The Requirements

To be a strong fit for the Warehouse Supervisor opportunity, you will have:
  • At least 5 years of distribution center / warehouse experience, including experience in a food-grade warehouse Quick question for you - click here

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent; college coursework, ideally resulting in an associate's or bachelor's degree, is an advantage
  • Skill in influencing all the daily activities of the warehouse including accountability for cost controls
  • Ability to schedule warehouse activities and meet demands (i.e. effective use of the workforce, shipping products, responding to urgent situations, etc.)
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (intermediate Word and Excel); experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) software is preferred, ideally Synapse

The Role

Role Overview
Reporting to the DC Manager, as Warehouse Supervisor, you will join a team dispersed across two shifts including two other supervisors, eight leads (six on first shift), and 75 fulltime staff members. Shifts run from 6 AM to 2:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 11 PM. You must be open to working any hours between 6 AM and 11 PM, but you will train on first shift, then spend some time on second to get to know the team. We anticipate that post-training, you'll work a modified schedule that overlaps with both shifts, such as 10 AM to 6:30 PM. Additionally, weekend work will occasionally be required. Daily, you will be responsible for directly managing several assigned leads while overseeing temporary and permanent warehouse associates. You may also be the primary leader for the warehouse staff when the manager is not available. Your mission will be to monitor, motivate and coach the team daily in order to deliver top-notch service and meet budget, productivity, quality and safety metrics. You will manage to a determined baseline, reviewing daily scheduling, productivity metrics and other data, and actively work to develop the team leads in order to build strong bench strength within the facility.

Role Details
You will arrive before the first shift crew arrives at 6:00 AM in order to open the building and prepare for the day or before the second shift arrives so there is overlap. Each day, you'll review safety procedures and data and labor plans to ensure warehouse associates are scheduled and placed for optimal effectiveness. Specifically, in performing your role, you will:
  • Review safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment for employees and visitors is maintained in all areas and at all times; maintain an unwavering commitment to safety
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, including managing work schedules / assignments, setting clear performance standards, delivering feedback, and coaching warehouse associates in all aspects of job performance
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset and implement continuous improvement plans as directed and appropriate. These could include new process solutions, policies, delivery of training, improvements in job safety, etc.
  • Identify coaching / training needs, ensuring that each employee under your care or that of the leads has the needed knowledge and skills to provide best-in-class service
  • Ensure departmental quality and productivity standards are met or exceeded through monitoring, mentoring, training, performance management and recognition
  • Communicate on a daily basis with the GM, Operations Manager, department employees and other internal resources as needed  
  • Identify and recommend improvements to the Operations Manager regarding standardized processes and other areas
  • Complete special projects and other assignments as assigned by your supervisor and other leadership
The Rancho Warehouse
You'll work in our Rancho warehouse (pictured right). This large facility offers 275,760 square feet, 30-foot ceilings, 32 dock doors, and two drive-up ramps. We have 24/7 centralized monitoring and onsite security. 

This is a food-grade facility that handles many grocery-type products; dry food products, confectionary, and CPG products shipping to mass retailers. Temperature ranges in the facility include ambient, 60°-65°F, 32°-38°F, and 0°F. Our value-added services include rework projects, FDA inspections, USDA, time-sensitive projects and repackaging. The facility operates a pick-up and delivery operation and transloading operation covering the LA basin, with direct line-hauls to Hayward, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
